Hey Guys,
Here is bit of an brief outline of how fever runs its performance events. and all the changes that will be going ahead this year.
Up and Coming Events:
At Each Sunday session i will make an announcement about events and performances we have coming up in the next month, and i will stick up signup sheets for anyone that wants to take part in the event. There will be a ton of events happening this year, so everyone will get to do as many as they like.
Some events will be restricted on numbers of performers, and some will be restricted on level of experience and which skills are needed for that performance, but i will balance all the performances to ensure everyone is allowed on as many as possible
Forum Notice:
For each even i will place an entry in the calendar and create a post in this section of the forum to let you know all the details about a specific event. the post will usually contain the following information.
- Date, start time and duration of performance
- Style of Performance
- Dress code
- skills required
- location of performances
- type of equipment to be used
- any extra information
please make sure you check the forums regularly to make sure you get all the information you need.
Dress Code:
All fever performances are done with specific dress codes to ensure we look as professional as possible when performing. the three standard dress codes are:
- Fever Blacks - Black fever t-shirt, black trousers, black shoes(optional)
- Fever Camo - Blue fever camo trousers(ask at fever meeting about these) any colour fever t-shirt
- Fire blacks - black fire resistant trousers (black jeans essentially), black fever t-shirt
we also use a wide variety of other costumes depending on the theme of the event we are performing at, check out the gallery to see some of the past examples.
all regular performers this year will be required to purchase a pair of fever blue cammos as this will be the performance uniform for fever this year. these will be available at fever meetings for £12.99. all other performance gear will be paid for by fever.
Body Painting:
Most of our nightclub performance jobs involve some form of body painting and coloured hair spray. usually just arms and face, but in some of the biffer jobs it can be the whole upper body and legs as well. if we are going to use body paint in a performance it will be included in the forum notice for that event.
Event Styles:
Every event we perform at has its own style but for the sake of desciption they are usually broken down into the following catagories
- Glow - Using Glow sticks and other glowing accessories
- UV - using UV reactive gear
- Fire - fire performances
- Standard - using standard spinning/juggling equipment
Event Types:
fever does a wide range of events, ranging from simply performing on stage, to running workshops for kids, here is a brief outline of the main types of performance we do:
- Workshop - working with a group of people to teach them circus skills, can be any age from 5 - 1000
- Walkabout - Performing in and around a crowd of people, usually at night clubs, very interactive audience but need to take care not to hit people
- Stage performance - performing in an area separate from the audience, sometimes choreographed sometimes freestyle
- Outside - performing outside in any for has the unique challenges of unpredictable weather and uneven surfaces, but is awesome in the summer.
Working with Kids:
a number of our workshops require us to work with children. if you would be interested in doing this, it can be very rewarding work. you must come and speak to me well in advance, as anyone who works with children is required to have a CRB Check (Criminal Record Beuro) check to ensure they are safe to work around children. this is nothing to worry about, but it does take around a month to sort out, so please let me know if you would be interested in these sorts of events.
Events Team:
Preparing for and running all of fevers events takes a LOT of hard work behind the scenes, because of this we encourage as many of you as possible to get involved with the events team. you get to learn great skills and have a hell of a lot of fun in the process. the events team will deal with every aspect of our events, here is a taste of what you can get involved with in the team:
- Choreography
- Body Painting
- Costume Design
- Event Management
- Customer relations
- Equipment preparation
So if your up for helping out in events just let me know, the more the merrier. There are also two assistant coordinators who help with running events when we get very busy, these are Grant and Twinkle.
FUN:
The most important part of events, it having FUN. performing in front of a group of people is an enormous rush, and you will gain a lot of confidence fro the experience as well as having a great time, as we are all one big happy family here at fever. and don't be scared about going up for a performance if you have never done one before. we have all been in the same positions and will be there to support you and make sure you really enjoy yourself.
See you at the next session!
