Fire Passing Procedures

One MUST be considered passed for a fire skill before being permitted to manipulate it.

To be considered "passed" for a fire skill one MUST:

Be a member of Fever
+ Have read Information For Fire
+ Have completed Demo 1
+ Have completed Demo 2*
+ Have completed Safety Talk**
+ Have completed Burn at Night
+ In the case of Levi-Stick and Fire-Fans be passed for any other fire skill
Or
Be a member of Fever
+ Have been previously passed for fire and currently hold appropriate rights to be passed*** in the official Fever fire documents in the expected manner that is in accordance with the current Fire Officer.
Or
Be the current Fire Officer and have sufficient knowledge of that skill.

Demo 1
All people who wish to practice and/or perform with fire for a particular skill should complete the fire routine for that skill with non-fire equipment.  This should be witnessed by a committee member.  In the case of Levi-Stick this MUST be completed and witnessed by the Fire Officer and a committee member.

Demo 2
Post demo 1 practice should be made with unlit fire kit.  People MUST then demonstrate the routine with unlit fire kit.  This MUST be witnessed by the Fire Officer and a committee member.

Safety Talk
A safety talk should then be attended outlining the proper procedures and safety issues.  This MUST be a safety talk approved by the Fire Officer.

Burn at Day
A burn in daylight MUST be observed by two committee members.  Only certain moves may be permitted and this MUST be performed satisfactorily.

Burn at Dusk
A burn near sunset MUST be observed by two committee members. This MUST follow “Burn at Day”.   Only certain moves may be permitted and this MUST be performed satisfactorily.

Burn at Night
A burn in darkness MUST be observed by two committee members.  This MUST follow “Burn at Dusk”. Only certain moves may be permitted and this MUST be performed satisfactorily in accordance with the Fire Officer. A request should be made that documentation is created that states that you have appropriate rights to be considered passed and that this is stored in the official and expected manner.

Terminology
The word “should” is used where this is the correct procedure to be followed.  The word “MUST” is used to demonstrate a requirement.  "+" is used as a short hand to mean "in addition to".
*Does not apply in the case of Levi-Stick
** If a member is already passed for one skill the Safety talk is not necessary for completion of another skill.  It should be completed regardless.
*** The right to be passed may be removed at any time by the Fire Officer alone.
More information on understanding passing for skills can be found by contacting your Fire Officer
